Tonika Dew Evans, LPC, NCC, CPCS

I offer therapeutic services, consultation services to public and private organizations, and parenting and anger management classes.  I work with individuals who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and other emotional or psychological disruptions.  I meet them where they are and offer a space to heal.

I recognize that it is not easy or comfortable to seek help or talk about experiences that have caused pain or discomfort. Therefore, I speak to the courage it takes to show up and share your stories with me.  I journey with you to recover and grow.  My practice mantra is Believe that you are worthy, Begin each day honoring that belief, Become who you were created to be.  This mantra encourages me and gives me the ability to encourage the clients that I serve.

My Story

I attended Tennessee State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.  I was conferred a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University (Atlanta, GA). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, and a National Certified Counselor.  I am a fierce social service advocate, with a wealth of experience working to positively impact the lives of others.

MMERE DANE: The Adinkra Symbol of Transformation & Change

Mmere Dane is an Adinkra symbol from the Akan people of Ghana, meaning “Time Changes” or “Times Change.” It represents the dynamic nature of life, transformation, and adaptability.

Using MMERE DANE as a Logo

I chose Mmere Dane as a logo for my practice because:

  1. Represents Personal Transformation – Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, just like the changing nature of time.

  2. Encourages Resilience – Clients facing struggles are reminded that difficult moments will pass and they have the strength to overcome them.

  3. Symbolizes Hope – Mmere Dane assures clients that healing and new beginnings are always possible.

  4. Culturally Rooted & Empowering – It honors African wisdom and the ability to embrace life’s transitions with courage.

A Therapy Practice Rooted in Change

For me, this symbol communicates a powerful message: You are not stuck. Change is constant, and healing is possible. Whether dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, or life transitions, Mmere Dane is a symbol of hope, growth, and transformation.
